Outreach Development
The role of the intern was to improve the outreach of the Department of Natural Resources. The goal of the outreach was to connect to a broader audience within the state to boost engagement and awareness of the department's mission and current water issues. The intern was tasked with creating a program with formatting and content for a podcast as well as the creation of a department social media page.

Fire and Fuzzies
The role of the intern was to assist in the planning and execution of the Fire and Fuzzies, a fundraising gala for Launch. By reimplementing the gala in a hybrid format after the COVID-19 pandemic, strategic planning for fundraising efforts and relationship formation with sponsors was necessary, giving great meaning to the intern’s efforts. The gala included an auction, formal dinner, presentation, and pledge drive to drive fundraising efforts.

GIS Mapping
The role of the intern was to create a comprehensive database for NeighborWorks Lincoln. The database was to include mapping of all NWL projects in the past and present—as well as planned projects for the future. Such information allowed for the quantification of the impact of NWL’s real estate program in the city, providing proof of the positive effect of the company’s efforts to fight income inequity and create healthy neighborhoods.

The role of the intern was to provide graphic representations of the past and future projects of NeighborWorks Lincoln. NWL was seeking an intern well-rounded in the areas of graphic design and marketing so that the final products could be printed for distribution or presented on the NWL website. The visuals provided visualizations of the healthy communities built through NeighborWorks.

MidPointe Day Program
The role of the intern was to provide support for new and growing initiatives for the individuals served by CenterPointe. The specific initiatives targeted during this internship were for people utilizing the day programs for mental health and addiction treatment. Great flexibility was needed from the intern due to the wide range of programs offered by CenterPointe.

College Student Engagement Plan
The role of the intern was to assist in the creation of a national plan to increase the engagement of community college and university students for Feonix Mobility Rising. The purpose of the plan was to raise awareness about transportation barriers, find volunteers, and raise funds for the company. The intern was faced with the unique challenge of spreading the message to college communities using methods most appealing to them.

Arts Advocacy Day
The role of the intern was to assist in the preparation of the 2023 Nebraska Arts Advocacy Day while working alongside the executive director. To prepare for the event, the intern had a role in space reservations, preparation of senator introductions, communication with registrants, and assistance on the day of the event. Additionally, the event was spread via social media by the intern to boost awareness of Arts Advocacy Day.

Project Management/Event Planning
The role of the intern was to support in all stages of the annual Do More Good Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Any of the following tasks fell within the duties of the intern: event coordination, logistics, event promotion, content research, speaker coordination, and sponsor outreach. The conference was made to inform participants about purpose-driven businesses.

Hazard Mitigation Plan Evaluation and Data Development
The role of the intern was to evaluate current hazard mitigation plans for the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources and extract data for future mitigation planning. The project served the purpose of ensuring that hazards surrounding natural resources could be reasonably and safely dealt with, meaning that the intern had a great amount of responsibility in guaranteeing the safety of individuals across the state of Nebraska.

Event Coordination/Marketing/Fundraising Support
The intern was tasked with supporting the marketing and coordination efforts of two major events for the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska. The first of the events, the 2024 Nebraska Brain Injury Conference, was a meeting of experts in brain injuries to discuss the most current news surrounding brain injuries. The second event was a 5K run/1-mile walk to raise awareness and funds for individuals suffering from the effects of brain injuries. Both events granted the intern the opportunity to bring hope and confidence to those who need it most. By seeing the events through from start to finish, the intern gained valuable practice in task completion, communication, and logistical planning.

Creation of Internal Process Efficiencies
The role of the intern is to streamline the company’s response process for requests. There is often difficulty in knowing where to direct requests, tracking request status, or understanding how to fulfill the request. The intern utilized their IT programming abilities to create online request forms that automate these processes and inform patrons of the status of requests.

Research and Prospect New Grants
The role of the intern was to aid in the organization’s search for grant awards, which are vital to the continuation of BraveBe’s mission. Identifying potential sources for fundraising and grants was the first step of the initiative. At the end of this intensive process, the intern presented a catalog of prospective funders and aided in the submission of applications for increased funding.

Pre-Law Litigation Resolution and Safety Coordination
The role of the intern was to assist in the overhaul of the department’s risk management functions using the most influential practices from other states and advice from the Attorney General. The suggested changes were then implemented into Nebraska’s claims resolution process. Specifically, tort and worker’s compensation laws were targeted in the research and implementation. In addition to the claims process overhaul, the intern assisted in the coordination of the Nebraska State Safety Day to inform government and community employees about the most effective ways to mitigate the risk of injury in their daily lives.

Immigrant High School Student Voices Video
The role of the intern was to create a video giving voices to recently immigrated students in the Nebraska school system. The videos were created as a source of advice for other immigrants through the stories, experiences, and challenges of other immigrant students. Making new students feel welcome in a new school system is crucial, especially when the new system comes with new cultural challenges, and the intern played a vital role in making immigrants feel welcome in Nebraska school systems.

History of Philanthropy in Nebraska
The role of the intern was to assist in the completion of a book outlining the history of philanthropy in Lincoln, Nebraska. With the lead author, the intern chose a specific aspect of philanthropy to study with interviews, exploration, and research in order to add depth to the chosen topics in the book. Overall, the book will serve as a way to fully understand the rich history of generosity and philanthropy in Lincoln.

Community Impact Campaign Internship
The role of the intern was to showcase the impact that Lincoln City Libraries has had within the community. The final product was a community impact campaign highlighting the testimonials of those most impacted by access to quality library services. The project also served to spread knowledge of the services and educational materials available to members of the community through Lincoln City Libraries.

EMpowerME Pack Event Planning Intern
The role of the intern was to assist in the planning and organization of Linked2Literacy’s EMpowerME event. The annual event serves as an effort to collect $50,000 in funding for the organization through sponsorships and ticket sales. Planning, marketing, communication, and execution were all crucial steps in the success of the event and a great baseline for any future endeavors of the intern.

Affordable Housing Model Codes/Zoning Project
The role of the intern was to provide a basis for the efficient development of affordable housing across the state of Nebraska. The final product was a base set of planned unit development documents for further application to Nebraska communities. The project also provided a baseline from which the process of approving affordable housing developments could be streamlined in order to provide time-sensitive assistance to those who are in need of affordable housing. The intern also had the opportunity to extend recommendations for future legislation through their findings and progress.

Lincoln Pilot Program
The role of the intern was to assist in the creation and completion of WoundPic’s Lincoln, Nebraska Pilot Program. Potential hospitals and physicians were researched, contacted, and informed of WoundPic’s goal to put healthcare information at the fingertips of individuals suffering from non-healing wounds. The intern was the first line of contact in Lincoln for any participants in the pilot program. The program sought to validate software that could be used to provide accurate assessment of wounds.
