Foundry's Healing Nebraska Event to Explore Depth of Behavioral Health in Nebraska
On Thursday, August 27th from 3:30-5:30 pm, the University of Nebraska Honors Program and the Foundry’s Summer Intern Cohort will debut Healing Nebraska: Talent Meets Need in the Red Cloud Room on UNL City Campus. Sponsored by University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska, this event will create space to discuss research, issues, advocacy, and careers in the realm of behavioral health.
In partnership with organizations NAMI, CenterPointe, Mid-Plains Center for Behavioral Health, and Community Alliance, the Foundry will highlight the programs, support groups, and professionals using a holistic approach to tackle issues such as addiction, mental illness across all age groups, stigma, and rural isolation.
This event will also feature the voices of interns from the Summer Intern Foundry cohort, each speaking on the compelling experiences they had while working with each organization, before opening up for discussions at individual tables. These discussions, centered on current topics and questions, will foster connections between professionals and students alike. Students will learn how their interests align with the mounting behavioral health crisis in our state, and professionals will share their lived experiences to further solidify that the field of behavioral health needs young talent, from every area of interest and major.
